Bruins Oh So Close!

SAN JOSE, Calif. - The North Carolina Tar Heels rallied for two goals in a seven-minute span in the game's final 15 minutes to take a 2-1 win over the UCLA Bruins Sunday afternoon at Spartan Stadium in San Jose, Calif. The win gives Carolina its 16th NCAA Women's Soccer Championship.

After a scoreless first half, UCLA took a 1-0 lead on Lindsay Greco's goal off a Stephanie Rigamat assist with 35:45 left to play.

UNC came back to tie the game on a goal by Meredith Florance with 14:49 left to play. Alyssa Ramsey and Danielle Borgman assisted on the goal. Carolina then took the lead for good when Bruin's goalie CiCi Peterson fell back into her own goal with the ball following a Tar Heel shot with 7:41 remaining in the match.

Unofficially, Carolina had 15 shots to 5 for the Bruins while holding a large 12-2 margin in corner kicks.

Today's game was the first all season that UCLA gave up more than one goal.
