Beavers Tripped Up By Highlanders

CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) - Vili Morton, Aaron Hands and Mark Miller each scored11 points as Cal-Riverside made 11 3-pointers and held on to defeat OregonState 67-63 Saturday night.

The Highlanders (3-4), playing their first season in Division I, trailed49-42 with 8 1/2 minutes to go but went on a 10-0 run.

Oregon State (4-3) tied the game on a 3-pointer from Josh Steinthal, butRiverside's Trenell Eddings made a three as the shot clock ran out to put theHighlanders ahead for good with 4:10 to go. It was Eddings' only basket inseven shots.

Steinthal led the Beavers with 15 points. Jason Heide and Deaundra Tannereach had 14.

Oregon State got within 55-54 with 2:17 to go, but Eddings hit six straightfree throws, and Morton added a layup to push the leasd to five with just undera minute to go.

Riverside committed 19 turnovers but had a 38-22 advantage in rebounds.

The Beavers made just 5 of 20 from 3-point range.

The Highlanders made 8-of-16 three's in the first half to take a 32-22 lead.Oregon State went on a 21-4 lead to open the second half to go ahead by sevenbefore Riverside came back.
