Ducks Down Louisville, 88-65

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Bryan Bracey scored 15 of his 17 points in the secondhalf to lead five players in double figures as Oregon beat Louisville 88-65Saturday night.

Luke Ridnour had a career-high 15 points, Frederick Jones 14, AnthonyNorwood 12 and Ben Lindquist 10 for the Ducks (9-1), who are off to their beststart since going 10-0 to open the 1996-1997 season.

Reece Gaines scored 17 points, Marques Maybin 15, Luke Whitehead 11 and ErikBrown 10 for the Cardinals (4-8), who shot only 39 percent and got outrebounded41-36.

Oregon led by 10 at halftime and Bracey scored nine points during a 15-6 runto open the second half and put the Ducks up 57-40 with 16:08 to play.

Following a Whitehead jumper and two Gaines free throws, Oregon hit threeunanswered 3-pointers to go up 66-44 and force a Louisville timeout with 11:48remaining. From that point, the Cardinals got as close as 15 but no closer.

Oregon shot 58 percent (30-of-52) from the field, including 12-of-193-pointers, but made only 16-of-30 free throws. Flo Hartenstein scored eightpoints and grabbed 11 rebounds, and Chris Christofferson added five points andseven rebounds for the Ducks.

Tied at 7, Oregon hit three consecutive 3-pointers to take a 16-7 lead with13:45 to play in the first half.

A Gaines 3-pointer and back-to-back inside baskets by Whitehead pulledLouisville with 16-14, but the Cardinals would trail the rest of the half.

Oregon led 36-33 with 2:41 to play and closed out the half with an 8-1 runto take a 44-34 halftime lead.

The Ducks made 7-of-10 3-pointers and outrebounded Louisville 25-18 in thefirst half. The Cardinals shot only 37 percent from the field and made only10-of-19 free throws as the teams combined to commit 27 first-half fouls.
