Women's Basketball Loses To Oregon

CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) - Brianne Meharry scored 24 points as No. 24 Oregonbeat Oregon State for the 10th straight time, 71-67 Friday night.

Lindsey Dion added 14 points, and Angelina Wolvert had 12 points and ninerebounds as Oregon (8-3, 1-0 Pac-10) opened its bid for a third straightconference title.

The Beavers (8-3, 0-1) were led by Felicia Ragland, who had 24 points, 11rebounds, six assists and four steals.

The Ducks led 28-25 at halftime and were up by as many as 10 points in thesecond half, but couldn't put the Beavers away until late in the game.

Meharry's two free throws with 2:23 left put Oregon ahead 64-60. AfterSyesha Thomas made a free throw for Oregon State, Dion hit back-to-back jumpersto make it 68-61 with 1:25 to play.

Ragland then made a 3-pointer and stole the ball and made a layup on thenext play to pull Oregon State to 68-66 with 51 seconds left.

But Oregon went 3-of-4 on free throws the rest of the way to seal thevictory.

Ericka Cook and Thomas both scored 11 for Oregon State.
