Jimmie Haywood Suspended from the Men's Basketball Team

Jan. 10, 2001

Corvallis, Ore. -

Oregon State University men's basketball player Jimmie Haywood has been suspended from the team indefinitely for violating team rules, it was announced Wednesday by Beaver head coach Ritchie McKay. The sophomore guard will not accompany the team this week for games at No. 1 Stanford Thursday and at California Saturday.

Haywood has started two of Oregon State's 13 games, and is averaging 22.5 minutes, 6.5 points, and 1.5 rebounds. The loss of Haywood reduces OSU's roster to eight 'active' players.

The Seattle, Wash., native is the second player to be suspended from the team this season. Sophomore guard Mike Cokley missed two games last month also for violating team rules.
