Saturday, January 13, 2001 - 3 p.m. PST/4 p.m. Arizona Time - Friel Court - Pullman, Wash.(Live on KFYI 550 AM & Fox Sports Arizona)

SCENE SETTER: Arizona State visits Pullman and takes on the Washington State Cougars Saturday at 3 p.m. PT/4 p.m. MST in a game broadcast by Fox Sports Arizona. ASU fell 70-68 in overtime at Washington on Thursday, while the Cougars lost to Arizona 84-51 in Spokane. Arizona State is without at least two of its nine returning lettermen from last year (Tanner Shell and Justin Allen) while junior Chad Prewitt, one of just two Sun Devils with two years of experience, is questionable for today's game with a sprained right ankle. Prewitt did not play in Thurdsay's game against Washington, the first time he had missed a game in his career. Prewitt had started the previous 45 contests and is averaging 10.6 points and 5.9 rebounds.

ASU VS. WSU: ASU holds a 26-21 lead in the series against the Cougars and has won the past six, the longest streak by either team in the series. Rob Evans is 4-0 against the Cougars and 2-0 against Paul Graham. The series has produced six overtime games, with ASU posting a 5-1 record. Before ASU had won its six straight, the Cougars had won five in a row against the Sun Devils from 1995-97. Last year, Kyle Dodd hit the game-winning three-pointer in overtime as ASU won 81-79 on Feb. 10 in Pullman.

INJURY UPDATE: Arizona State has been hit by the injury bug this year, as three Sun Devil lettermen have missed games, including two sophomores who are out for the season. Tanner Shell, who averaged 9.1 points per game in Pac-10 play last year and was ASU's third-leading scorer in league play, missed all but the season opener with a bulging disc in his back. He was expected to return for Pac-10 play before breaking a bone in his left hand in practice in late December. Justin Allen, also a sophomore, is redshirting this year after being diagnosed with Hodgkin's Disease in September. Allen's treatments have been going very well and he is expected to return to the court next season. Chad Prewitt, who had started 45 straight games before the Washington game Thursday, injured his right ankle in practice on Jan. 9 and is doubtful for the WSU game.

ROB EVANS: Rob Evans, the 1997 SEC Coach of the Year, is 127-116 (.523) in his nine seasons as a head coach and 41-35 (.539) in his third season at Arizona State. He is undefeated against Washington State, posting a 4-0 record.
