The No. 26 Washington Women's Tennis Team Downs Boise State, 9-0 In Season Opener

SEATTLE - The 26th-ranked Washington women's tennis team won all six singles matches and all three doubles matches against Boise State, 9-0, on Saturday at the Lloyd Nordstrom Tennis Center. Washington is now 1-0 after winning their first match of the season. The Husky netters will be back in action next week as they head to California to take on Fresno State, Thursday, Jan. 25, with matches set to begin at 1:00 p.m.

Playing in the top position, junior Ilona Kordonskaya downed Helen Lawson, 6-3, 6-2, while 78th-ranked senior Kristina Kraszewski defeated Renate Stoop, 7-6, 6-4, in the No. 2 position. Freshman Claire Carter won in the No. 3 slot by stopping Jemima Attard, 6-1, 6-1, while sophomore Andrea Coulter defeated Ann Oehme, 6-3, 6-4, in the No. 4 position. Playing in the No. 5 slot, 43rd-ranked freshman Erin Hoe downed Karoling Gimberg, 6-2, 6-0, while sophomore Kathy Chi stopped Laurie Cheung, 6-1, 7-5, in the No. 6 slot.

In doubles competition playing in the No. 1 position, sophomore Darija Klaic teamed up with Kraszewski to shut down Stoop and Lawson, 9-7. In the No. 2 slot, Carter and Kordonskaya downed Attard and Cheung, 8-3, while Coulter and Hoe, stopped Gimberg and Oehme, 8-2.
