Women's Gymnastics Wins Four-Way Meet at San Jose State

SAN JOSE - With strong efforts on all four events, the Cal women's gymnastics team captured a four-way meet at San Jose State Friday night.

The Bears totaled 194.400, just edging out Oklahoma (194.025). San Jose State took third with 191.975, followed by Arizona at 190.775.

Carrie Kreifels tied for first on the parallel bars with a 9.800, matching OU's Leticia Ishii and Arizona's Kara Fry. On vault, Janet McKnight (9.825) and Kreifels (9.750) placed second and third, respectively.

On the beam competition, Katreece Stone tied for first with Arizona's Randi Liljenquist with a score of 9.875. And on the floor excercise, Pari Olver scored 9.875 to match Oklahoma's Patricia Aoki for high honors.

Olver also tied for second in the all-around competition with a score of 38.925. In addition, Kreifels scored 38.500 and Stephanie Kim 38.325.

Cal returns to action Sunday afternoon when Bears host Oklahoma, Arizona and Utah State at 2 p.m. in Haas Pavilion.
