Huskies Fall To Cal, 79-64

SEATTLE (AP) - Sean Lampley scored five of his 21 points during a late 21-6run that put California ahead for good on the way to a 79-64 victory overWashington on Saturday.

The Bears led most of the game, but trailed 51-50 with six minutesremaining. Lampley opened Cal's late run with a free throw. By the time JoeShipp capped it with a fast-break layup, the Bears led 71-57 with 2:16remaining.

Dennis Gates scored 10 points for Cal (14-5, 5-2 Pac-10).

Michael Johnson scored 14 points, while David Dixon added 12 and Bryan Brown11 and for Washington (8-12, 2-6).

Lampley, with 11 rebounds, notched his fifth double-double of the season. Heand has scored at least 20 points in six of Cal's first seven conference gamesthis season.

Cal led by as many as 15 points in the first half, but Washington closed outthe half with an 11-3 run to pull within 40-35 at halftime.

Johnson's steal and fast-break layup capped an 8-0 run that gave the Huskiestheir only second-half lead at 51-50 with 14:07 on the clock.

The Bears called timeout and then regrouped for their decisive 21-7 run.

Cal has won 13 of its last 15 games, the best mark for 15 consecutive gamessince the 1993-94 Bears did the same.

The Bears completed a road sweep at the Washington schools for the firsttime since 1993.

The Huskies have lost eight of their last 10 games.
