M&W Women's Track Teams Prepare for Wolf Pack Invitational

EUGENE - The University of Oregon men's and women's track and field teams join forces for the first time this weekend, traveling to the Wolf Pack Invitational, hosted by the University of Nevada. The meet is scheduled for Sat., Feb. 3 at the Livestock Events Center in Reno, Nev.
The eight Duck men's entries include senior Rian Ingrim (shot put), juniors Jake Horner (800) and Cody Howell (pole vault), sophomores Terry Ellis (55 hurdles), Adam Kriz (hammer), Jason Slye (pole vault) and Foluso Akinradewo (triple jump), and freshman Trevor Woods (pole vault).
On the men's side last weekend at the University of Northern Iowa Invitational, junior Santiago Lorenzo won a seven-event men's heptathlon (5,470 points), senior Rian Ingrim set a personal best in the shot put (second, 54-6 3/4), and freshman Trevor Woods upped his personal best in the pole vault to 16-8 3/4. The Ducks' 13 men's qualifiers so far for the Mountain Pacific Championships include Ellis (60H, 200), Jake Garlick (60H), Billy Pappas (60H, LJ), Ross Krempley (800), Jason Boness (HJ), Kyley Johnson (HJ), Woods (PV), Cody Howell (PV), Slye (PV), Lorenzo (PV, LJ), Akinradewo (LJ, TJ), Ingrim (SP) and Kriz (WT).
On the women's side, the Ducks will make its biggest showing yet this season, sending 18 athletes to Reno.
Women's throwers include senior Maureen Morrison (weight throw), and sophomores Mary Etter (shot put, weight throw) and Jordan McDaniels (shot put, weight throw). Jumpers will include senior Holly Speight (pole vault), sophomores Jenny Brogdon (high jump) and Georgette Moyle (pole vault) and freshmen Rachael Kriz (high jump), Kirsten Riley (pole vault) and Ann Sullivan (long jump). Sprinters will include juniors Endia Abrante (55, 400) and Cameo Davis (55 hurdles, 400), sophomores Janette Davis (400), Lucretia Larkin (55 hurdles, 55, 200) and Heather Murtaugh (55, 200), and freshmen Daisy Pressley (55, 400) and Ann Sullivan (55 hurdles, 200). The distances feature two entries - All-America senior Katie Crabb (mile) and sophomore Eri Macdonald (800).
Last weekend at the Great Northwest Open, senior Holly Speight led the UO women with an NCAA provisional mark and two-inch personal best in the pole vault (12-6), while sophomore All-American Mary Etter won the shot put (45-5 1/2). So far this season, the Duck women have seen seven athletes qualify in eight events for the Mountain Pacific Championships - Kriz (HJ), Brogdon (HJ), Speight (PV), Sullivan (LJ), Deb Lee (TJ), Etter (SP, WT) and Maureen Morrison (WT)
Looking ahead two weekends, the men's squad competes at the Iowa State Classic (Feb. 9-10) in Ames, Iowa and the women's squad travels to the McDonald's Invitational (Feb. 9-10) in Moscow, Idaho.
