#4 Stanford Women's Swimming & Diving Trails #10 Texas, Leads #11 SMU After First Day Of Triangular Meet

Austin, Tex. - The #4 Stanford women's swimming and diving team leads #11 SMU but trails #4 Texas after the first day of a two-day triangular meet in Austin, Texas. After nine events The Cardinal holds a 92-73 advantage over SMU but trails the Longhors, 85-82. Texas also leads SMU, 107-58. Stanford did win five of the nine individual events contested on Friday. The meet concludes on Saturday, beginning at 12:00 p.m., CT.
Stanford's individual winners were Jessica Foschi (500 freestyle, 4:48.68), Tara Kirk (200 breaststroke, 2:12.03), Misty Hyman (100 butterfly, 53.34), Shelly Ripple (400 individual medley, 4:15.75) and McKenze Murphy (three-meter diving, 496.70 points). The marks by Kirk, Hyman, Ripple and Murphy met NCAA 'A' Qualifying Standards. Murphy's was also a season-best.
