Bruins Batter Rainbows Again, 12-2

HONOLULU - UCLA made it two-straight in a big fashion as the Bruinspounded Hawaii, 12-2, to take two-of-three in the series in Honolulu.

Hawaii scored first in the bottom of the first off UCLA starter Jon Brandt(1-0) as Gregg Omori clobbered his first homer of the season to rightcenter to make it 1-0.

That lead stood until the second when UCLA put up a four spot off UHstarter Gavin Garrick (0-2). In the second, the Bruins got the four runson five hits before Chad Giannetti came in and recorded the final out.

Giannetti went 3.2 innings allowing five runs (4 earned) on just threehits. He walked one and struckout one while beaning two others.

Chris Quiroz then went 2.2 innings giving up three runs while striking outthree. Aaron Pribble tossed a scoreless ninth.

For the Bruins, Brandt went five innings striking out four and walkingthree scattering three hits.

Mike Davern got his first showing of the season pitching two inningslimiting UH to two hits. Mike Kunes relieved him and gave up UH's onlyother run on a RBI triple, UH's first of the season. Doug Silva gave upone hit in the ninth.

The Bruins improved to 2-2 on the season while the Rainbows fell to 3-3.

UCLA collected 13 hits led by Ben Francisco's 2-for-5 performance withthree RBI and two runs. Casey Janssen, on his first at-bat of his career,hit an opposite field homer to right off Quiroz in the eighth inning.
