UW's Posavac Earnes Fifth Win In Men's Tennis Loss

TULSA, Okla. - The 21st-ranked Washington men's tennis team was narrowly defeated by Tulsa University, 3-4 at the Tulsa Southern Tennis Club on Friday. The Huskies (3-2, 1-1) earned singles victories from Matt Hanlin, Andy Posavac, and Jeremy Berman. Posavac's win over Tulsa's Shri Sudhakara (6-1, 6-4) leaves him undeafeted and gives him his fifth win on the season.

Tulsa had a 1-0 advantage over Washington after taking the doubles point. Husky duo Dillon Ruby and Ari Strasberg defeated Timperley/Sebastyanski in the No. 2 spot, 9-8. Senior duo Jeremy Berman and Andy Posavac were topped by Sudhakara/McGregor, 8-6. In the No. 3 position, Andrej Bizjak and Matt Hanlin lost to Zomer/Nammar, 8-3.

With Tulsa securing the doubles point, singles competition was underway. Playing in the No. 1 singles spot, Ssphomore Matt Hanlin easily defeated Pawel Sebastyanski in two sets, 6-3,6-2. With UW's Andrej Bizjak losing in the No. 2 position and Posavac taking the win at No. 3, the score was tied 2-2. The Huskies took a brief lead as Berman took care of Alejandro Tejerina in three sets, 4-6, 6-4, 6-0, to go up 3-2. But the Huskies could not hold on to the No. 5 and 6 singles spots, as they were defeated, 3-4.

Washington will face No. 35 San Diego State on Sunday, February 4th, with matches scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
