No. 17 Women's Gymnastics Falls to Cal State Fullerton

FULLERTON, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton defeated No. 17 California, 194.750 to 192.600, in women's gymnastics competition Saturday night.

Sophomores Lisa Arnold and Janet McKnight led the Bears in the vault event with a tie for first place with a score of 9.825.

Unfortunately, the bright spots for Cal ended there as no one on the Bears squad scored higher than a 9.825 the rest of the way.

Senior co-captain Pari Olver and sophomore co-captain Carrie Kreifels tied for third place on the bars with a mark of 9.825 while CSF's Joanna Hughes and Jamie Moody came in first place (9.875).

Olver also took third in the floor exercise scoring a 9.800 and took second place on the beam.

The Titan's Kelly Mathiasen took the all-around with a score of 39.300. Olver (38.700) and Kreifels (38.025) finished in consecutive spots for the second consecutive meet, but finished two-three instead of placing as the top two finishers.

Cal sets to host Washington and UC Davis Friday, Feb. 9 at 7:30 p.m.
