Beavers Rained Out

Feb. 10, 2001

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Oregon State's baseball doubleheader at Cal-Santa Barbara that had been scheduled for Saturday afternoon at Ceasar Uyesaka Stadium was rained out. The Beavers (0-3 overall, 0-0 Pacific-10) and Gauchos (1-2, 0-0 Big West) will try again on Sunday starting at noon, with the teams hoping to play a doubleheader. Sunday's action can be heard on KLOO-AM (1340).

Saturday's games had been set for an 11 a.m. start, but there were heavy rains in the Santa Barbara area Friday night and the Gauchos' home field does not have a tarp. The start time was originally pushed back to at least noon, and the Beavers arrived at the ballpark to find the UCSB squad trying to make the field playable.

The decision was then to attempt a single game at 3 p.m. if possible. By then, skies were sunny but the infield remained too muddy to play. The Beavers went through a brief workout on the outfield grass and in the batting cages before returning to their hotel.
