Stanford Baseball's Jeremy Guthrie Named NCBWA National Player of the Week

Chicago, Ill. - Stanford sophomore right-handed pitcher Jeremy Guthrie (Ashland, OR) has been named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association National Pitcher of the Week.
Guthrie picked up his first win at Stanford on February 9 when he held Florida State scoreless on one hit over the first 7.0 innings of a 6-2 Cardinal victory that doubled as the 1000th career win for Cardinal head coach Mark Marquess. Guthrie struck out eight and walked two in the contest.
In 17.0 innings this season, Guthrie has allowed just one earned run for a current 0.53 earned run average.
Stanford is currently on a five-game winning streak and next visits Texas for a three-game series from February 16-18.
