Women's Golf Ninth Heading Into Final Round of TRW Regional Challenge

PALOS VERDES ESTATES, Calif. - The Arizona State women's golf team stands in ninth place after shooting a 28-over par 316 in the second round of the TRW Regional Challenge, hosted by Ohio State Tuesday at the par-71 Palos Verdes Golf Club in Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.
The Sun Devils have turned in a two-day total of 616 (304-312) and are 34 strokes off the lead of defending national champion Arizona which is in first after two days at 582. New Mexico State (593), Tulsa (596), Texas (603) and USC (606) round out the top five teams.
Individually, Arizona's Natalie Gulbis posted the low round of the day with a two-under 69 and holds the tournament lead at 141 heading into the final day. For the Sun Devils, junior Lisa Meredith leads the team, finishing in a tie for 24th with a 10-over 152 (75-77) in the first two rounds. Freshman Jimin Kang (75-79=154) and senior Molly Cooper (78-76=154) both checked in at 34th, while sophomore Melanie Hunt, who transferred to ASU from Texas Tech this winter, is tied for 47th (76-80=156). Sophomore Blair O'Neal rounds out the Sun Devil squad, turning in a two-day total of 166 to tie for 81st.
The TRW Regional Challenge will conclude Wednesday with a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
