Tenth-Ranked ASU Women's Tennis to Battle Harvard This Monday

ON TAP: Tenth-ranked Arizona State (5-1) will be hosting Harvard (3-2) on Monday at 1:30 p.m. (MST) at the Whiteman Tennis Center.

THE MATCH-UPS: The Devils are coming off a 7-0 sweep of the University of Oregon, University of New Mexico, and University of Nevada-Las Vegas in the past three outings. Undefeated at home (4-0), ASU hopes to continue the streak against visiting Harvard, which is ranked No. 60 currently by ITA.

WORTH WATCHING: Guiding the Devils' attack this season is No. 70 sophomore Megan Yeats, who has earned a 14-3 record with her solid play. Also this year, freshman Cindy Sureephong accompanies experienced transfer Adria Engel, who is currently ranked No. 45. Sureephong finished fourth in doubles competition at the 2000 Clay Court Nationals. As a Devil, Sureephong has compiled a 9-2 record while going undefeated (5-0) in dual action. Engel, the 2000 Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year, has posted a 4-2 record for ASU at the No. 1 spot. Before transferring to ASU, Engel was also named ITA's National Rookie of the Year.

SATURDAY'S WRAP-UP AGAINST UNLV: The Devils swept the Rebels, 7-0, the fourth time they have done so this season against an opponent. ASU failed to drop a set the entire outing.

HEAD COACH SHEILA MCINERNEY: In her 17th season as head coach of the Sun Devils, the former USC All-American currently ranks second in ASU school history with 260 wins. McInerney has coached 14 different All-Americans and has guided the Sun Devils to NCAA tournament play each of the past 13 seasons. With the help of three All-Americans last season, McInerney and her squad reached the quarterfinals in the NCAA tournament after knocking off Duke University in the round of 16.

IN THE RANKINGS: Four ASU players are currently listed in the nation's top rankings by the ITA. In singles action, No. 45 -ranked Adria Engel is accompanied by No. 70-ranked teammate Megan Yeats. Yeats, who is currently undefeated in dual play at the No. 3 spot (6-0), has posted a 14-3 overall record thus far. As a doubles team, Yeats and DeVera are nationally ranked at No. 31 overall. Also representing the Devils nationally in doubles rankings, Mhairi Brown and Celena McCoury are tied for No. 19.
