#12 USC Defeats Oregon Women's Tennis

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The University of Oregon's women tennis team started their L.A. weekend against a solid No. 12-ranked USC squad. The Women of Troy swept doubles matches on their way to defeating the Ducks, 5-2, on Friday.

In singles, youth was served as Oregon freshman Davina Mendiburu defeated USC's Tiffany Brymer, 7-6, 2-6, 6-4, at the No. 5 spot. Also victorious was freshman teammate Courtney Nagle, who put away the Women of Troy'sKrissy Hamilton-Heinberg, 6-4, 6-1 at No. 6.

In doubles, the Women of Troy swept Oregon. The Ducks tandem of Davina Mendiburu and Janice Nyland battled, but were defeated by USC's duo of Tiffany Brymer and Jewel Peterson, 8-4, at No. 1 doubles.

Up next, the Ducks will take on the UCLA Bruins, on Saturday, February 24, at 12:00 p.m. in Westwood, Calif.
