Baseball Doubleheader With Cal State Fullerton Rained Out

Feb. 25, 2001

FULLERTON, Calif. -- The scheduled college baseball doubleheader between the No. 4/5 Arizona State Sun Devils and the No. 18 Cal State Fullerton Titans was cancelled Sunday due to heavy rainstorms in the Southern California region.

The Sun Devils and Titans were also rained out Saturday, as were the all the other college baseball games that were to be played in Southern California yesterday. ASU opened the series Friday with an exciting, 5-3 come-from-behind victory over the Titans.

The 13-2 Sun Devils will have the week off before hosting defending national champion and nationally ranked Louisiana State next weekend (March 2-4). Friday's series-opening game will start at 7 p.m. with the game televised in the Phoenix area on Cox 9. Friday's game will also kick off the ceremonies for a special weekend honoring former ASU baseball coach Bobby Winkles (1959-71). The field at Packard Stadium will be officially named Bobby Winkles Field before Saturday's 1 p.m. game.
