Women's Tennis Eases Past Utah, 5-2

SEATTLE - The 17th-ranked Washington women's tennis team won four singles matches and two doubles matches as they eased past Utah, 5-2 on Sunday at the Lloyd Nordstrom Tennis Center. Washington is now 7-4 on the season, while the Utes fall to 1-7. The Husky netters will be back in action Friday, March 2 as they take on Brigham Young University at home. Matches are set to begin at 1:30 p.m.

Playing in the top position, 21st-ranked freshman Claire Carter continued her winning streak as she easily handled Linn Ronnberg, 6-1, 6-2. The tall righty captured her ninth-straight win, bringing her overall singles record to 14-3. Junior Ilona Kordonskaya tallied another win she rolled past Cassie Kasteler, 6-4, 6-1, in the No. 2 spot, while sophomore Andrea Coulter downed Sheri Esrock, 6-2, 6-1, in the third position. Freshman Erin Hoe ended her losing streak as she easily defeated Brooke Wilkinson, 6-4, 6-0, in the No. 5 spot.

Claire Carter and Ilona Kordonskaya brought home a win over Brooke Wilkinson and Cassie Kastler, 8-3, as the duo occupied the top position in doubles competition. Andrea Coulter teamed up with Erin Hoe to defeat Linn Ronnberg and Sheri Esrock, 8-6, in the No. 3 position.
