Men's Basketball Player of the Week (2/26/01)

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - CALIFORNIA senior forward Sean Lampley has been named the Pacific-10Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 19-25, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Lampley, from Chicago, Ill., averaged 29.0 points, 12.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists in wins over Washington and Washington State. He shot 20-of-31 (.645) from the floor and went 16-of-23 (.696) from the free throw line.
Against Washington, Lampley shot 8-for-8 from the field for 29 points. He also pulled down a season-high 17 rebounds (ties for most in a Pac-10 game this year) and had six assists. Then, versus Washington State, Lampley scored another 29 points and had a team-high eight boards. With just over 10 minutes left in the game, his turn-around jumper moved him into first place on Cal's all-time scoring list. Lampley currently has 1,693 points, ahead of Lamond Murray's total of 1,688 set from 1992-94.
It is the third weekly award for Lampley, the 26th all-time honor for the Bears.
