DAVIS, Calif. - No. 25 California showed no sign of road fatigue as it concluded a busy weekend that started out in Tempe, Ariz. Friday and ended Sunday evening in Davis, Calif. The Golden Bears outscored UC Davis 195.575-190.800 at Recreation Hall upping their record to 10-8 on the season.
The Bears swept the top five places on both uneven bars and balance beam and took the top four positions on vault. Carrie Kreifels posted a 9.900 on bars and 9.825 on beam for Cal, while teammate Pari Olver captured the individual all-around title at 39.075. Olver also shared first place on floor with a 9.925.
All four events were won by the Bears with UC Davis' Poppy Major squeaking in to take a share of first place on the floor with Olver.
Cal's Lisa Arnold won the vault competition with a 9.775, but the sophomore vault and floor specialist was injured during a fall on her floor routine forcing the Bears to go short-handed in that event. Cal scored a 49.150 on both the floor and bars, a 48.900 on beam and a 48.375 on vault to assemble its winning overall mark.
Cal makes an in-state trek next week as it takes part in the UCLA Classic Sunday, March 4 at 2 p.m.
