Seven Individuals, Men's 1600m Relay Team to Represent ASU at NCAA Indoor Championships

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Seven individuals and one relay team will represent Arizona State at the 2001 Track and Field Indoor Championships, the NCAA announced Monday.

Accepted to compete for the men were senior Vince Jones in the 60m, seniors Michael Campbell and Tony Berrian in the 400m, and the 1600m relay team of Campbell, Berrian, freshman Jason Barton, junior Pete Lopez and alternate junior Anthony Galaviz.Competing on the women's side will be seniors Kelly MacDonald and Mary Duerbeck in the 5000m, sophomore Tiffany Greer in the long jump, and senior Adrienne Judie in the weight throw.

Jones ranks 10th in the nation with his 60m time of 6.66, while Campbell and Berrian rank fifth and sixth with times of 46.22 and 46.34, respectively. The men's 1600m relay team ranks sixth nationally with its indoor school-record time of 3:07.02.

MacDonald and Duerbeck will enter nationals with the fourth and fifth best times in the nation in the 5000m, in 16:23.21 and 16:23.31, respectively. Greer checks in ranked sixth nationally with her season-best long jump effort of 21 feet, 0.5 inches, while Judie's school-record weight throw mark of 64 feet, 10 inches ranks 7th.

The 2001 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships will be held Friday, March 9 through Saturday, March 10 hosted by the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Ark.
