Women's Golf In Seventh At Spartan Invitational After One Round

After one round of play in soggy Salinas, Calif., the Stanford women's golf team is currently in seventh at the Spartan Invitational, shooting a 302 on the day. New Mexico State leads the field with a 287 followed by Arizona State (290). Rounding out the top five are Pepperdine (298), Oklahoma State (299), Tulsa (299) and Washington (299).

Individually, Cardinal Hilary Homeyer is tied for fifth, shooting a par 72 today while teammate Stephanie Keever is one stroke back (73) and tied for ninth. Freshman Angela Rho is tied for 26 with a four-over par 76 followed by Marcia Wallis who is tied for 64 (81). Kim Kouwabunpat is tied for 72nd with an 83. Jessica Belskis, who is competing as an individual, is tied for 57th with an 80 on the day.

New Mexico State's Alena Sharp is tied for first with teammate Rachel Bailey as both golfers fired rounds of two-under par 70.

Action in the Spartan Invitational will continue tomorrow at the Corral de Tierra Country Club in Salinas, Calif.
