Alex Kim & Laura Granville Named ITA National Players Of The Month For February

PRINCETON, N.J. - Stanford's Laura Granville and Alex Kim have been named Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National Players of the Month for February, the ITA announced today. In addition, Granville and Gabriela Lastra earned ITA National Women's Doubles Team of the Month honors.
All the players honored captured the titles at last month's third leg of the ITA Grand Slam, the Rolex National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships in Famers Branch, Texas.
Granville, a sophomore from Chicago, had quite a month as she became the first women's player to ever repeat as Rolex singles champion, broke the NCAA Division I record for consecutive wins (58) and moved to No. 1 in the national singles rankings. Granville, who went 11-1 in singles, also went 10-0 in doubles with Lastra to sweep last month's honors. Lastra also earned ITA National Doubles Team of the Month for October with teammate Lauren Kalvaria. Granville and Lastra guided the Stanford women to the USTA/ITA National Team Indoor Championships title on Feb. 18 in Madison, Wisconsin.
Kim, a senior from Potomac, Maryland, was playing in his first tournament of the season when he won last month's Rolex men's singles title. He moved to No. 4 in the national rankings while going 9-2 for the month. Kim also led Stanford to a final appearance at the USTA/ITA National Team Indoor Championships in Seattle.
