Women's Golf 13th At Spartan Invitational

SAN JOSE, Calif. - - The Oregon State women's golf team shot a 318 on Tuesday in the second round of the San Jose State Spartan Invitational and stands in 13th with a two-round total of 630 heading into Wednesday's final 18 holes at the par-72 Corral de Tierra Country Club.

Carina Olsson leads the way for the Beavers after posting a consistent 78-77--155 over the first two rounds. The senior is tied for 38th.

Stacie Ferguson was the only other Beaver to shoot a lower number in the second round, as she carded a 78 Tuesday after a 77 in the opening round. Ferguson's total of 157 puts her in a tie for 47th.

Bridget Bieth and Ashlei Pendleton struggled after shooting solid scores the first day, as Bieth took a 80 and Pendleton a 83. Bieth is tied for 49th, and Pendleton sits in 62nd.

Melanie Furuta shot a 85 Tuesday to fall to 71st.

Arizona State leads the field with a score of 577, just one stroke better than New Mexico State.

ASU and NMSU are 1-2 in the individual standings as well, as ASU's Jimin Kang shot a 67 Tuesday to get to 5-under-par 139, two strokes in front of NMSU's Alena Sharp had a 141.

The teams will wrap up play with a final 18 holes Wednesday.
