No. 24 Men's Tennis Travels To No. 1 UCLA And No. 21 USC

ON TAP: Winners of their last three duals, the 24th-ranked Arizona State men's tennis team (7-3, 2-1 Pac-10) will travel to Southern California to take on top-ranked UCLA (9-0, 3-0 Pac-10) on Friday, March 9 at 1:30 p.m. and 21st-ranked USC (7-2, 1-2 Pac-10) on Saturday, March 10 at 12:00 p.m. Earlier this season in Tempe, the Sun Devils defeated USC (4-3) and narrowly lost to UCLA (3-4).

A LOOK BACK: ASU shutout Loyola Marymount, 7-0 in its last dual action. The dual started with the singles first as the Sun Devils swept all six matches, dropping only one set. ASU's Jarrod Eckermann came off first on the No. 6 court as he defeated Michael Levin, 6-4, 6-0. Nic Dubey, who posted his 80th career singles win, quickly followed on the No. 1 court with a straight sets 6-1, 6-3 win over Leopold Graeubig. Mirza Duranovic posted his 20th win of the year and also his 80th career win as he downed LMU's Beau Berglund on the No. 4 court, 6-2, 6-4. In doubles action, ASU's swept the first two matches on the No. 1 and No. 3 courts for the one point. So with the dual already decided, the two teams did not play the No. 2 doubles.

SUN DEVILS IN THE RANKINGS: This is Arizona State's sixth week in the top-25 as they continued at No. 24. The next team ranking will be released on March 14. In singles, Nic Dubey moved up to 42nd in the country, while Matt Klinger enters for the first time in his career at No. 84. The next singles and doubles rankings will be released on March 9.

A GOOD START: This year the Sun Devils have won seven of their 10 doubles points in dual play, including their last four duals. ASU has also used 10 different doubles combinations to this point.

HEAD COACH LOU BELKEN: In his 19th season as head coach, Lou Belken has produced 14 All-Americans, including NCAA singles champion and ATP professional Sargis Sargsian. Belken, the 1999 Pacific-10 Conference Coach of the Year and Region VIII Coach of the Year, has guided the Sun Devils to NCAA postseason berths in nine of the last 13 seasons, including a berth into the NCAA round of 16 in 1999.

CAREER NUMBERS: Senior Nic Dubey and junior Mirza Duranovic each achieved their 80th career singles victory against LMU ... junior Matt Klinger holds a .714 career winning percentage in singles, recording a 55-22 mark ... Pim Van Mele, at 8-1 in dual play, has already reached his total number of dual wins from last year ... this is Duranovic's third straight year of reaching at least 20 wins.

HOME SWEET HOME: Over the past four seasons, including a 7-1 record this year, Arizona State holds a 58-21 (.734) overall dual record at the Whiteman Tennis Center, the Sun Devils will host six more home matches in 2001.
