March 9, 2001

BERKELEY - If Cal is selected to the play in the NCAA men's basketball tournament, fans should follow these procedures to order tickets for the games.

The 65-team field will be announced on Sunday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. on CBS TV. If selected, Cal will have approximately 200 tickets available for purchase by fans. Throughout the tournament, ticket preferences to Cal fans will be based upon Bear Backer level.

Bear Backers at the Andy Smith level and above will have an exclusive period to order tickets - Sunday, March 11 from 4 to 6 p.m. There will be a limit of two tickets per order.

Any remaining tickets will be distributed to Coaches Club level Bear Backers, followed by Golden C, etc., starting at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, March 12. Again, there will be a limit of two tickets per order.

The numbers to place your order are 800-GO BEARS and 510-642-3277. Tickets can be picked up at the tournament site. If you are designating someone else to pick up your tickets, please give the name of the individual at time of purchase. Interested fans can also directly contact the host site for tickets, since they sometimes have additional tickets for purchase. These tickets are not likely to be near the Cal section.

Travel Packages: Miller Gove Northbrae Travel offers the official Cal Athletic Department package. They have flights to and rooms at each of the sites. Reservations can be made Sunday, March 11 from 4 to 6 p.m. after 8 a.m. by calling 510-496-2020. Priority will be given to those who purchase game tickets through the Athletic Department.
