Softball's Crystal Draper Named To Hedrick's Hallowell Classic All-Tournament Team
March 12, 2001
FRESNO, Calif. - Oregon State's Crystal Draper was named to the Hedrick's Hallowell Chevrolet Classic All-Tournament Team announced late Sunday night.
Draper, a junior, posted a 0.30 ERA in four appearances at the Classic. She held batters to a mere .128 average, giving up just 10 hits in 23.2 innings of work and striking out 17 batters while walking just three.
Draper pitched a perfect game against New Mexico State on Sunday for her second career no-hitter, becoming just the second OSU pitcher (and first since 1984) to record two career no-hitters for the Beavers. The 2-0 shutout was the 15th of her career, which ties her for fourth place in the OSU career record books.
Draper added two more innings of no-hit ball that same day when she picked up a save against No. 11 DePaul.
Although OSU lost to No. 1 UCLA (3-2) on Saturday, Draper held the top-ranked Bruins to just four hits, and just one of UCLA's three runs was earned.
In Friday's loss to Cal Poly (3-2), none of the runs were earned and Draper tied her season-high with eight strikeouts against the Mustangs.
The No. 15 ranked Beavers finished the seven-team Classic tied for 3rd place with a 3-3 record.
OSU (21-10-1) is idle this week before facing the University of Texas San Antonio and New Mexico State in the opening round of the New Mexico State Tournament on Friday Mar. 23.
