Baseball Snaps Four-Game Losing Streak With Win At UCSB

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Anthony Lunetta went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI as the No. 10 USC Trojans defeated the host UC Santa Barbara Gauchos, 12-5, in non-conference action.
Lunetta hit his third home run in as many games with a solo shot in the eighth as the Trojans (13-8) snapped their four-game losing streak with a 16-hit attack, the most this season.
Chad Clark (2-2) threw 5 2/3 scoreless innings until the Gauchos (10-6) touched him up for four runs in front of 194 at Caesar Uyesaka Stadium.
USC scored at least one run in the first six innings of the game. Brian Barre led off the first with a double to center and scored on a single to left by Lunetta. Lunetta stole second and scored on an RBI single by Rob Garibaldi as the Trojans never looked back.
The Trojans added one in the second and broke the game open with three runs in the third as USC held an 11-0 lead at one point.
The Trojans will return home tomorrow (March 14) for a makeup game against San Diego at 5 p.m. USC will begin Pac-10 Conference play this weekend with a three-game series at Washington, beginning on Saturday (March 17) at 1 p.m. All games will be broadcast live on www.usctrojans.com.
