OSU Wrestling In 20th At NCAA Championships

IOWA CITY, Iowa - - The Oregon State wrestling team is 20th after Friday's third session at the NCAA Championships. Minnesota leads the meet with 88.50 points, while OSU has 16.50. The Beavers are within striking distance of 12th-place Northern Iowa, which stands at 22.50. Above that, it will be harder to pass anyone, as 11th-place Edinboro has 27.50 points.
OSU's Eric Jorgensen lost a narrow 6-5 decision to Oklahoma State's Shane Roller in a 157-pound bout when Roller scored a takedown in the third period to send Jorgensen to the wrestleback bracket. Jorgensen faces Nathan Vasquez of Fresno State in the third round of wrestlebacks tonight. The highest Jorgensen can place is now third.
Nathan Coy, OSU's 174-pounder, suffered a 6-1 setback at the hands of Edinboro's Josh Koscheck, and will square off against Cornell's Jim Stanec Friday night in wrestlebacks.
Nathan Navarro started the morning with a pin of Kent State's Brent Thompson 1 minute, 40 seconds into the match, then lost to Josh Moore of Penn State by a 7-5 count in the 125-pound bracket.
At 141 pounds, Shane Cunanan downed Pat Diaz of James Madison 5-2 before being pinned by Ohio State's Robert Sessley in 1:54.
