Bruins Place 15th At NCAA Championships.

Long Island, NY- The 2001 Women's Swimming and Diving Championships concluded this evening at the Nassau County Aquatic Center with the Bruins finishing 15th overall with 83 points. Georgia won the championships with 389, followed by Stanford (387.50), Texas (350.50), Auburn (324) and Arizona (304) to round out the top five.

In individual events, freshman Sara Plazter finished highest among the Bruins, placing 11th (49.66) in the 100 Free.

Three Bruins competed in the 200 Breast as Lyndee Hovsepian was 29th (2:18.39), Jen Noddle was 31st (2:18.42) and Brooke Winkler was 33rd (2:19.42).

In the 200 Fly, Beth Goodwin placed 22nd (2:01.64), Katie Younglove was 28th (2:02.39) and Julia Voitovitsch placed 37th (2:07.59).

UCLA had better success in the evening's only relay event, as the squad clocked 3:21.68 to finish 14th overall. The squad's time just missed the school record of 3:21.31 that was set in 1994.

Anne Baghramian competed in the platform and finished 19th with a point total of 333.50.
