Women's Tennis Wins Thriller in the Desert
March 17, 2001
Tucson, Ariz. - The UCLA women's tennis team snapped its 10-match losing streak Saturday, downing the No. 22 Arizona Wildcats, 4-3 at the LaNelle Robson Tennis Center in Tucson. UCLA, which beat Arizona back in January, improves to 4-10 overall.
The deciding point on Saturday turned out to be the doubles point as UCLA won all three doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead heading in singles play. The two teams ended up splitting the singles matches as each won three. Sara Walker, Catherine Hawley and Jennifer Donahue each picked up victories for UCLA to secure the 4-3 win.
The Bruins will be off next week for final exams and will be in action again on Mar. 27 against LMU. That match is at the Los Angeles Tennis Center beginning at Noon.
