POTTSBORO, Texas --- Washington State sophomore Dustin White is one stroke off the lead and tied for third place after shooting a 72 on Saturday at the Dr. Pepper Intercollegiate in Pottsboro, Texas.
The Cougars are knotted for 10th place in the team standings in the 17-squad field, hosted by Northern Illinois University.
White fired a 34 on the back nine to put himself within striking distance of the first win of his career. Penn State's Matt Abbott and Purdue's Shiv Kapur are tied at 71 at the top of the leader board.
The Cougars also received a solid round from junior Jon Reehoorn. The Burlington, Wash., native carded a 74 and is tied for 11th place. Jeremy Taylor and freshmen Isaac Woods and Ryan Camp all shot 80s and are tied for 63rd.
Purdue is the overall leader, carrying a five-stroke lead over Toledo going into the final round of play on Sunday. Penn State, Wichita State, and Michigan State are all seven strokes in back of the leader and tied for third place.
