Women's Tennis Drops Another Close One, Loses 4-3 to No. 47 Harvard

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of Oregon women's tennis team dropped another close match Monday, this time losing 4-3 to No. 47-ranked Harvard.
The Ducks (3-10) dropped the Nos. 1-3 singles slots, including three-set losses suffered by Janice Nyland and Vickie Gunnarsson. Oregon freshman Courtney Nagle picked up her fifth win in her last six matches, defeating Harvard's Lara Nagushdandi 6-3, 6-2. Also, junior Adeline Arnaud defeated Jenny Timoney of Harvard, 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 5 position. It marked Arnaud's fifth win in her last six singles matches.
'It was another close, difficult loss,' fifth-year Oregon coach Jack Griffin said. 'The team fought really hard and we we're hoping to get things turned around (Tuesday) against San Diego.'
Harvard improved its record to 6-6.
The Ducks' lone doubles victory came at the No. 3 position, as Arnaud and Jeanette Mattsson defeated Sara McGinty and Nagushdandi 8-1.
Oregon, which has lost eight in a row, returns to action Tuesday at San Diego. The match begins at 1:30 p.m.
