Bruins Tied for Fifth at Oregon Duck Invitational

The UCLA men's golf team is tied for fifth place after two rounds in the Oregon Duck Invitational, hosted by the University of Oregon at the Eugene Country Club.

The Bruins 36-hole total of 585 is deadlocked with UC Santa Barbara and is three shots better than seventh place Nevada and trails third place Washington and Arizona by one shot. San Diego State holds the 36-hole lead at 576, followed by Oregon at 577.

Individually, sophomore Travis Johnson is tied for third place at 141, three-under par. Johnson rebounded from a one-over par score of 73 in the first round to a four-under par 68 in the second round. Freshman John Merrick posted consecutive 73s and is tied for 12th with nine players.

Oregon's Aaron Byers leads the field at 138, followed by UCSB's Jeff Wood at 139.

UCLA's Parker McLachlin is tied for 32nd with teammate J.T. Kohut at 149, and freshman Steve Conway is tied for 70th at 157.

Final round action continues today with results to be posted this afternoon.
