WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - OREGON STATE junior catcher Bryan Ingram has been named Pac-10 Baseball Player of the Week and USC junior right-hander Mark Prior has been named Pac-10 Baseball Pitcher of the Week for March 19-March 26, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Ingram, from Everett, Wash., batted .636 in Oregon State's 2-1 series win over then-No. 3 Arizona State. His 7-for-11 plate performance included a triple and two sacrifice hits. He also added three runs and three RBI and threw out five baserunners.
Prior, from Bonita, Calif., pitched his second consecutive complete game, with a 8-0 shutout over Arizona. He struck out a career-high 15 batters, while allowing zero earned runs or walks and scattering three hits. One of Prior's most impressive stats to date is that he owns a 95-6 strikeout to walk ratio.
The Player of the Week honor is the first for Ingram in his career, and the 45th selection all-time for OREGON STATE. The Pitcher of the Week honor is the second for Prior in his career, and the 44th selection all-time for USC.
Also nominated for Player of the Week were Brian Horwitz, CAL, Carlos Quentin, STAN, Bill Peavey, USC. Also nominated for Pitcher of the Week were Jon Switzer, ASU, Jason Dennis, CAL, Scott Nicholson, OSU, Jeff Bruksch, STAN.
