Men's Tennis Defeats #69 Arizona, 5-2

TUCSON, Ariz. - The sixth-ranked Stanford University men's tennis team improved to 11-1 with a 5-2 non-conference road victory over the University of Arizona (9-6) on Friday afternoon.
The Cardinal pulled out the victory by capturing two of the three singles matches that went to a third set. Senior Ali Ansari (Houston, TX/Second Baptist HS) sealed the victory for the visitors with a 5-7, 6-2, 6-3 victory over Bruno Arapovic, while 19th-ranked junior K.J. Hippensteel (Roanoke, VA/International Academy) increased his winning streak to nine matches by outlasting Tom Lloyd 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 at No. 2.
Stanford also went the distance to capture the doubles point. After both teams had won one match, Hippensteel and sophomore David Martin (Key Biscayne, FL/Boca Raton Prep) defeated Whi Kim and Lloyd 9-8 (3) at No. 2 to capture the first point of the dual.
Stanford concludes this two-game road trip at #28 Arizona State (8-7) on Saturday at noon (MT)/11:00 a.m. (PT). The Sun Devils dropped a 4-3 home decision to California (8-4) on Friday afternoon. The Cardinal's next home match is Wednesday, April 4 against the University of Utah (6-5) at 1:30 p.m. at the Taube Family Tennis Stadium.
