Men's & Women's Crew Sweeps Sacramento State And Santa Clara

REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. - The Stanford University men's and women's crew teams prepared for next week's prestigious San Diego Crew Classic with impressive home victories on Saturday morning at Redwood Shores.The Cardinal women swept all four races with Sacramento State, after being swept by the Hornets last season. The men won all three races against the Hornets, and also went 2-for-2 against Santa Clara.

On the women's side, the Cardinal defeated the Hornets in the varsity eight and second varsity eight races. Coach Aimee Baker's squad also captured wins in the novice eights and novice fours.

The Cardinal men's varsity eight nipped the Hornets by seven seconds, while it also prevailed in the open and novice eights. First-year head coach Craig Amerkhanian's team also defeated Santa Clara in varsity and novice eight competition.

Next week, the Cardinal men and women travel to the 27th annual San Diego Crew Classic, which is the second-largest rowing regatta in North America and features some of the top collegiate teams in the nation.
