Oregon Softball Heads To Bay Area

Oregon This Week Oregon (23-21) heads to the Bay Area to take on No. 5 California and No. 4 Stanford this weekend. The Ducks play Stanford Friday and California Saturday and Sunday.
Recently Oregon took break from conference play Tuesday, facing Portland State in a doubleheader. The Ducks fell 4-2 and 8-7 in the non-league matchup.
Scouting No. 4 Stanford The Cardinal (32-3, 2-1) are coming off a huge upset of No. 1 UCLA last weekend. Opponents are hitting just .133 against Stanford pitchers and sophomore Dana Sorensen ranks first in the nation in strikeouts per game (12). Sorensen is second in the nation in ERA, posting an impressive 0.24 this season.
Scouting No. 5 California The Bears (39-4, 0-3) rank in the top five in the NCAA in ERA (4th, 0.68), fielding percentage (3rd, .978) and winning percentage (.907). Sophomore Veronica Nelson ranks 11th nationally in home runs per game (.30) and has 81 total bases this season.
The Series California leads the series with Oregon 48-27 and the Ducks hold a 20-10 advantage over the Cardinal.
