Women's Golf In Second After Round One of the ASU Invite

TEMPE, Ariz. - The California women's golf team carded a 301 to stand in second place Friday after round one of the 54-hole PING/ASU Invitational. TCU fired a 299 to lead the Golden Bears by two strokes in the 15-team tournament at the par 72, 6101 yard Karsten Golf Course. Twelve of the 15 teams in the field are ranked in the top 50 nationally.

Host Arizona State, Tulsa and UCLA are deadlocked in third place with a 302.

Arizona's Lorena Ochoa and Arizona State's Molly Cooper lead the individual race with an opening round one-under-par 71. Sophomore Vikki Laing leads the way for Cal in a six-way tie for fifth place with a 73.Cal freshman Sarah Huarte continued her red-hot play this spring, carding a 74 Friday to stand in a six-way tie for 11th heading into Saturday's second round.
