Oregon Softball Falls 4-0 To No. 5 California

BERKELEY, Calif. - The University of Oregon softball team (23-23, 1-4 Pac-10) fell 4-0 to No. 5 California at Levine-Fricke Field in Berkeley, Calif., Saturday. California pitcher Jocelyn Forest struck out 15 Oregon batters and gave up just two hits as the Bears improved to 40-4, 1-3.
'We actually played with a lot of heart today and I'm really pleased with how the kids came out,' Oregon head coach Rick Gamez said. 'The bottom line is Cal's pitcher threw a great game.'
Oregon sophomore Andrea Vidlund had both hits for the Ducks, including a double in the seventh inning. Vidlund finished the day 2-for-3.
Freshman pitcher Anissa Meashintubby (2-2) took the loss for Oregon.
The Bears scored two runs in the on a single by Jen Deering and in the third inning Cal extended its lead to 3-0 on an RBI single by Paige Bowie. Bowie went on to score the Bears' final run in the sixth inning.
