Bears in Second After First Round of California Collegiate

STANFORD, Calif. - The California women's golf team finds itself in second place after the opening round of the 11-team Peg Barnard California Collegiate Friday at Stanford Golf Course. The Golden Bears shot a team score of 304, putting them three shots back of host Stanford (301) with 18 holes to play.

Washington and San Jose State are tied for third with scores of 306. Oregon and San Francisco round out to the top five at 308.

San Francisco's Susannah Laing leads the field with a one-under-par 71. One stroke off the pace are Nevada's Angie Yoon and San Jose State's Jessica Krantz.

Cal senior Cheryl Lala and sophomore Ria Quiazon are part of a four-way tie for fourth place after carding 74s.

Action at the Peg Barnard Collegiate concludes tomorrow with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start at the Stanford Golf Course.
