Gosnell, Younglove Selected To First Team Pac-10 All-Academic

Walnut Creek, CA- UCLA sophomore diver Regan Gosnell (Pontamac, MD) and junior swimmer Katie Younglove (Sacramento, CA) were selected to the first team Pac-10 All-Academic team in Winter sports of women's gymnastics, men's and women's swimming and diving, and wrestling announced by the Pac-10 office today. To be eligible for selection to the academic teams, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant substitute.
UCLA had a total of 12 divers and swimmers named to the first, second and honorable mention teams, which was the highest representation of all the Pac-10 schools. Stanford had a total of nine athletes who made the respected teams.
Younglove, a communication studies major with a 3.81 GPA, finished the 2000-01 regular season on a strong note, finishing seventh in 100 Fly and sixth in 200 Fly at the 2001 Pac-10 Championships. She also competed in both the 100 and 200 Fly at the 2001 NCAA Championships. The two-time All-American also ranks second in both the 100 fly and 200 fly on the Bruin all-time list. Younglove was also selected to the Verizon Fall/Winter Women's At-Large Academic First Team for District VIII, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on March 23.
Gosnell, who has not yet decided on a major, compiled a cumulative 3.68 GPA. Last weekend, she qualified for the Senior National meet by finishing fourth (368.30) on the platform and fifth (414.70) on three-meter board at the Senior Zone Championships. At this year's 2001 Pac-10 Championships, she placed eighth on the one-meter and ninth on the platform.
Four Bruins were named to the second team: senior diver Anne Baghramian (Long Beach, CA), senior Brighid Dwyer (Novato, CA), junior Lyndee Hovsepian (Ranch Mirage, CA), junior Jen Noddle (Brampton, Ontario, Canada), junior Erin Thomas (Sebastopol, CA) and senior Julia Voitovitsch (Frankfurt, Germany).
Baghramian, a sociology major with a 3.31 GPA, concluded her diving career on a high note by being the only Bruin diver to compete in the 2001 NCAA Championships. At the conference championships, she finished third on the three-meter and 10th on both the one-meter and platform. She also competed in last weekend's Senior Zone Meet.
Dwyer, who is also a sociology major with a 3.45 GPA, also ended the regular season on a strong note as she finished sixth in the 100 Back at this year's Pac-10s. She also competed in the 2001 NCAA Championships and the U.S. National meet last month.
Noddle (3.51 GPA/Communications), and Hovsepian (3.30 GPA/Communications), Voitovitsch (3.45 GPA/ International Studies) all competed in this year's 2001 NCAA Championships. At this year's Pac-10s, Noddle's highest finish came in the 100 Breast, where she finished seventh. Hovsepian was the highest Bruin finisher in the 200 Breast with a sixth place finish, while Voitovitsch took sixth in the 100 Fly.
The following Bruins were named to the honorable mention team: Diver Liz Ackerman (Westport, CT), diver Chrissie Amorosia (San Clement, CA), Emily Melina (Moscow, ID), and diver Heidi Prosser (University Palace, WA).
