Men's Golfers Finish 13th at ASU Thunderbird/Savane Invitational

The UCLA men's golf team tied for 13th place at the ASU Thunderbird/Savane Invitational over the weekend at the Karsten Golf Course in Tempe, AZ.
The Bruins finished with a 54-hole team score of 863, four shots better than Oklahoma and two shots behind California and Pepperdine. Arizona State won the event with a three-round team score of 839, 25-under par. Texas captured second place at 845 and USC was third at 847.
UCLA freshman John Merrick tied for 11th place at 210 after posting a collegiate best score of 67 in the final round. Merrick's three-round score was six under par. Sophomore Travis Johnson tied for 41st with teammate Parker McLachlin at even par 216, freshman Steve Conway tied for 76th at 221 and freshman Roy Moon finished 103rd at 231.
Oklahoma State's Anders Hultman fired a 54-hole score of 206, 10 under par, to capture individual medalist honors. Arizona's Ricky Barnes finished second at 207 and three players tied for third place, including Manny Hayes of Cal State Northridge.
The Bruins will compete this weekend at the U.S. Intercollegiates, hosted by Stanford.
