New Track Rankings Released

In this week's (April 17) Trackwire national collegiate Top 25 rankings,both Jeanette Bolden's UCLA women's team and Art Venegas' Bruin men's squadmoved up from their rankings of last week.
The Bruin women regained the national No. 1 spot from USC and the UCLA menare now tied for No. 18, with George Mason. Last week, the UCLA women were No. 2(behind No. 1 USC) and the UCLA men were No. 23. Both UCLA teams improved in theTrackwire Top 25 because of triangular and dual victories over Nebraska and CSNorthridge on Saturday, April 14 at Drake Stadium.
Rounding out the women's Trackwire Top 10 are - 1. UCLA, 2. USC, 3. SouthCarolina/Arizona, 5. BYU, 6. LSU, 7. Texas, 8. Clemson/Arkansas and 10.Colorado. The Top 10 men's teams are - 1. LSU, 2. TCU, 3. Arkansas/Tennessee,5. Auburn, 6. Stanford, 7. Florida/Baylor, 9. UTEP and 10. USC/Alabama.
In this week's IAAF/USATF Team Power Rankings, the Bruin women remained theNo. 1 dual team in the nation, but the UCLA men dropped to No. 2 (last week theUCLA men were No. 1), behind Tennessee.
The Trackwire Top 25 is based upon how a team will score at the upcomingNCAA Outdoor, May 30-June 2 at Eugene, OR. Team Power Ranking is based upon ateam's individual marks and dual meet strength.
Tolson, Moser Lead National Lists
Senior Christina Tolson, from Fountain Valley and junior Scott Moser, fromHuntington Beach, lead the nation in their respective events. Tolson, the 2001NCAA Indoor shot put champion, is the national leader in the women's shot put(56-6 1/4) and second in the hammer (207-11). Moser is the national leader inthe men's discus (206-8) and No. 8 in the shot put (62-4 1/2).
UCLA women listed (by mark) in the national Top 10 include freshman AdiaMcKinnon in the 400m (No. 6, 52.88), freshman Lena Nilsson in the 1500m (No.10, 4:23.17), senior Michelle Perry in the 100m hurdles (No. 8, 13.30) and 400mhurdles (No. 8, 57.91), in the pole vault, junior Tracy O'Hara (No. 2, 13-91/4, O'Hara is the 2000 NCAA Indoor and Outdoor champion), senior Erica Hoernig(No. 6, 13-1 1/2) and junior Heather Sickler (No. 10, 12-9 1/2), along withsophomore Chaniqua Ross in the shot put (No. 5, 53-0) and discus (No. 7,173-11).
UCLA men listed (by mark) in the national Top 10 include: in the 400m hurdles,sophomore Kyle Erickson (No. 4, 50.34), freshman Dan Ames in the discus (No. 4,196-8) and sophomore Nate Marum in the javelin (No. 7, 228-11).
This week, the Bruins will be sending Michelle Perry to a women'sheptathlon event at Azusa Pacific (April 19-20). Other UCLA athletes will becompeting at the Pomona Invite (April 20), the Long Beach Invite (April 21) andthe Mt. SAC Relays (April 20-22).
