Husky Spring Game Kicks Off Saturday at 12:30 p.m.

April 20, 2001

Seattle, WA - The annual Washington Spring Football game will take place at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 21 at Husky Stadium. Admission is free to the public. The Spring Game is one of several events on campus Saturday as a part of Washington's annual Spring Fling.

The Spring Game will be broadcast live by KOMO Radio AM-1000 with Bob Rondeau and Chuck Nelson calling the action and sideline reporter Bill Swartz conducting live interviews during the game with the Husky players. Fox Sports Net Northwest will air a broadcast of the game at 8 p.m. Saturday evening. Tod Pickett will call the action while former Husky quarterback Sonny Sixkiller will conduct sideline interviews with players and coaches. Washington head coach Rick Neuheisel will wear a wireless microphone during the broadcast and provide insights from field level during the telecast.

The Husky squad has been divided into two teams, Purple and White, for this year's spring game. Due to injuries and off-season surgeries, both the offensive and defensive linemen will play for both teams. Some players will participate for both teams during the game.

'We have done most of the work, so this is a chance to have some fun and provide a game-day atmosphere,' says Husky coach Rick Neuheisel. 'It should be a great day and I think our fans will have a fun time with all the planned activities.'

This year's Spring Game will consist of four quarters with a running clock for the first 10 minutes of each quarter and a standard clock the final five minutes of each period.
