Women's Rowing Dominates at Stanford Regatta

BELMONT, Calif. - The Washington State Cougar women's rowing team was victorious in every event Saturday, defeating San Diego State in the morning's races, and beating Sacramento State and UC-Davis in separate afternoon races.
The varsity eight started off the morning winning against San Diego State 6:31.7 to 6:44.2. The second varsity eight rowed to victory 6:42.6 to 7:14.0, and the novice eight raced at a time of 6:47.3 to 7:13.1. The varsity four took to the water and championed a time of 7:39.3 to 8:11.4.
A strong headwind effected the rowing times in the afternoon with the Cougar varsity eight defeating Sacramento State 7:39.0 to 7:56.5, the second varsity eight winning, and the novice eight rowing at a time of 7:53.1, to 8:45.6.
That afternoon also featured a victory by the varsity four of Washington State against the boat from University of California at Davis. Overall, head coach Tammy Crawford was pleased with the effort.
'I am really happy with the results,' said Crawford. 'I'm looking forward to building on this effort and making our boats faster throughout the next week.'
The Cougars next regatta is Saturday, April 28 against the Oregon State University Beavers at Vancouver Lake in Vancouver, Wash.
