ASU Season Bests Fall at Mt. Sac Relays

WALNUT, Calif. - Multiple Arizona State track and field season-bests fell during the second day of competition at the Mt. Sac Relays in Walnut, Calif. Saturday.

Sun Devil sophomore Joni Smith won the third heat of the women's 400m with a season-best time of 54.26, the second fastest time overall among four heats. Teammates Arlaina Davis, a senior, and Courtnie Ratliff, a sophomore, also turned in season best times, placing second (54.67) and third (54.70), respectively, in the fourth heat of the 400m.

Also winning his heat of the men's 400m was freshman Jason Barton, capturing first place in the third heat with a time of 47.23. Smith and Barton join sophomore Cody Sohn as the only Sun Devils through Saturday to win heats in their respective events. Sohn won the second heat of the women's 3000m steeplechase with an NCAA PQ and personal-best time of 10:38.02 Friday night.

ASU had three men competing in the discus, with senior Eric Logvin leading the way with a fifth place finish and a mark of 179 feet, one inch. Junior Vince Mosca placed 13th with a mark of 161-10, while junior David Wood fouled on all three attempts. Senior Adrienne Judie placed 25th in the women's discus with a mark of 139-4.

Limited results from the Mt. Sac Relays have been available all weekend. Sunday's results are not yet available.
